- YOLOv7 for Mosquito Breeding Grounds Detection and Tracking With the looming threat of climate change, neglected tropical diseases such as dengue, zika, and chikungunya have the potential to become an even greater global concern. Remote sensing technologies can aid in controlling the spread of Aedes Aegypti, the transmission vector of such diseases, by automating the detection and mapping of mosquito breeding sites, such that local entities can properly intervene. In this work, we leverage YOLOv7, a state-of-the-art and computationally efficient detection approach, to localize and track mosquito foci in videos captured by unmanned aerial vehicles. We experiment on a dataset released to the public as part of the ICIP 2023 grand challenge entitled Automatic Detection of Mosquito Breeding Grounds. We show that YOLOv7 can be directly applied to detect larger foci categories such as pools, tires, and water tanks and that a cheap and straightforward aggregation of frame-by-frame detection can incorporate time consistency into the tracking process. 3 authors · Oct 16, 2023
- YOLOv7: Trainable bag-of-freebies sets new state-of-the-art for real-time object detectors YOLOv7 surpasses all known object detectors in both speed and accuracy in the range from 5 FPS to 160 FPS and has the highest accuracy 56.8% AP among all known real-time object detectors with 30 FPS or higher on GPU V100. YOLOv7-E6 object detector (56 FPS V100, 55.9% AP) outperforms both transformer-based detector SWIN-L Cascade-Mask R-CNN (9.2 FPS A100, 53.9% AP) by 509% in speed and 2% in accuracy, and convolutional-based detector ConvNeXt-XL Cascade-Mask R-CNN (8.6 FPS A100, 55.2% AP) by 551% in speed and 0.7% AP in accuracy, as well as YOLOv7 outperforms: YOLOR, YOLOX, Scaled-YOLOv4, YOLOv5, DETR, Deformable DETR, DINO-5scale-R50, ViT-Adapter-B and many other object detectors in speed and accuracy. Moreover, we train YOLOv7 only on MS COCO dataset from scratch without using any other datasets or pre-trained weights. 1 Improved Pothole Detection Using YOLOv7 and ESRGAN Potholes are common road hazards that is causing damage to vehicles and posing a safety risk to drivers. The introduction of Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) is widely used in the industry for object detection based on Deep Learning methods and has achieved significant progress in hardware improvement and software implementations. In this paper, a unique better algorithm is proposed to warrant the use of low-resolution cameras or low-resolution images and video feed for automatic pothole detection using Super Resolution (SR) through Super Resolution Generative Adversarial Networks (SRGANs). Then we have proceeded to establish a baseline pothole detection performance on low quality and high quality dashcam images using a You Only Look Once (YOLO) network, namely the YOLOv7 network. We then have illustrated and examined the speed and accuracy gained above the benchmark after having upscaling implementation on the low quality images. 6 authors · Nov 10, 2023
1 Student Classroom Behavior Detection based on YOLOv7-BRA and Multi-Model Fusion Accurately detecting student behavior in classroom videos can aid in analyzing their classroom performance and improving teaching effectiveness. However, the current accuracy rate in behavior detection is low. To address this challenge, we propose the Student Classroom Behavior Detection system based on based on YOLOv7-BRA (YOLOv7 with Bi-level Routing Attention ). We identified eight different behavior patterns, including standing, sitting, speaking, listening, walking, raising hands, reading, and writing. We constructed a dataset, which contained 11,248 labels and 4,001 images, with an emphasis on the common behavior of raising hands in a classroom setting (Student Classroom Behavior dataset, SCB-Dataset). To improve detection accuracy, we added the biformer attention module to the YOLOv7 network. Finally, we fused the results from YOLOv7 CrowdHuman, SlowFast, and DeepSort models to obtain student classroom behavior data. We conducted experiments on the SCB-Dataset, and YOLOv7-BRA achieved an [email protected] of 87.1%, resulting in a 2.2% improvement over previous results.
